Meeting of passengers with the tour leader at Zagreb Airport two hours before the scheduled departure. Check-in for the flight to Istanbul at 09:25 on flight TK1054 (Turkish Airlines). Arrival in Istanbul is scheduled at 13:45 local time, and the onward flight to Colombo departs at 21:10 on flight TK1130 (Turkish Airlines). Overnight flight with meals served on board.

2. COLOMBO – PINNAWALA – DAMBULLA

Arrival in Colombo at 07:45 local time. After landing and completing border formalities, we drive to the Pinnawala elephant sanctuary, which was founded in 1975 to care for abandoned and injured elephants. Since then the orphanage has grown into a large family and today numbers more than 40 elephants, including calves brought from various parts of the country as well as those born within the captive breeding program. We continue to the Dambulla cave temples, also on the UNESCO World Heritage list. There are about 80 cave temples in Dambulla, five of which are large and interconnected in the so-called "Golden Temple". In total there are 153 Buddha statues in the temples, three statues of kings and four statues of gods and goddesses. Two of these are Hindu gods (Vishnu and Ganesha) dating from the 12th century. Wall paintings covering an area of 2,100 m2 depict the life of the Buddha, including the Buddha's temptation by the demon Mara, as well as the first sermon of the Buddha. Upon arrival check-in and accommodation at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

3. DAMBULLA – SIGIRIYA – MATALE – KANDY

Breakfast. We depart for Sigiriya, one of the most impressive geological formations on the island and also one of the most important archaeological sites protected by UNESCO. We will climb to the rock fortress built in the 5th century by King Kassapa, which served as the royal citadel for more than 18 years. The unusually beautiful citadel called Lion Rock rises almost 200 meters above the dense jungle. The Lion's paw picturesquely guards the steps to the palace on the summit. We continue to Kandy. On the way we will stop in Matale. Visit to a Spice Garden, where various types of spices are cultivated and processed. We will also visit a local workshop where we will have the opportunity to see how batik fabric is made (Batik is made by drawing or stamping wax onto fabric). We continue to Kandy. Visit to the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which is considered the most valuable relic in Sri Lanka. The city of Kandy is one of the holiest places for Buddhists in Sri Lanka, which is why its monuments were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1988. We recommend you bring white clothing for entering the temple, as well as clothing that covers shoulders and knees. Check-in at the hotel, dinner and overnight. Breakfast and check-out from the hotel. Departure to the former capital of Ceylon, the city of Kandy. On the way we will visit the Spice Garden, where various types of spices are grown and processed. Arrival in Kandy, accommodation at the hotel. Kandy is the last royal capital of Sri Lanka, where the Sinhalese king Sri Wickram Rajasinghe ruled before the British took power in 1815. Check-in at the hotel in Kandy. Dinner and overnight.

4. KANDY – PERADENIYA – TEA PLANTATIONS – NUWARA ELIYA

Breakfast and drive to Peradeniya, where the Botanical Garden built for the recreation of the Sinhala king is located. The Botanical Garden is known for its collection of various species of orchids, spices and medicinal plants, flowers, palms and other trees (it has more than 4,000 species of plants and trees). En route we will visit a tea plantation and hear how tea was first planted in 1824 precisely in the Peradeniya botanical garden, having been brought from China. Exports began in 1873 to London. Continue driving to Nuwara Eliya through beautiful landscapes, green valleys and plateaus. This is the region of the best Ceylon tea, also called Little England, located at an altitude above 1,800 meters. The town of Nuwara Eliya was very popular during British rule, whose influence is still felt today. Accommodation at the hotel, then dinner and overnight.

5. NUWARA ELIYA – SCENIC TRAIN RIDE TO ELLA – YALA NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast and check-out from the hotel. We will board the train and enjoy enchanting landscapes and stunning views of Sri Lanka on one of the most scenic train rides in the world (panoramic ride duration approx. 3 hours). Upon arrival in Ella, we continue by bus to Yala National Park. Yala National Park, also known as Ruhuna, is located in the southeastern part of Sri Lanka near the town of Tissamaharama. It is the most visited park in Sri Lanka and the best place to see large island mammals. Herds of elephants are a common sight here, and with some luck you may also encounter a large leopard. Deer, wild boar, buffalo, bear, monkeys, squirrels, peacocks, crocodiles and over 450 bird species, 26 of which are endemic, and 250 species of butterflies are just some of the inhabitants. The fascinating tropical vegetation that in places joins into dense rainforest has created an ideal habitat for a rare animal kingdom, and the entire national park is further adorned by a coastal section where long sandy beaches surrounded by gently rounded hills give the impression of another, unreal world. After the park visit we proceed to a hotel near the national park. Check-in and accommodation. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

6. YALA – GALLE – KALUTARA

Breakfast and check-out from the hotel. Drive to a beach hotel where we will rest after this tour. We will stop in Galle, the most historically interesting city in Sri Lanka, which was once the main port on the island. The city was the center of Dutch colonial power in the Indian Ocean in the 17th century, and the magnificent Galle Fort (spanning more than 50 hectares) testifies to this fact. Galle is one of the best-preserved colonial-era cities in Southeast Asia and is on the list of protected world heritage sites. The Dutch Museum and the Dutch Church are two of the most famous tourist attractions in Galle. The city is also known for lacemaking and ebony carving. Arrival to the Kalutara area. Dinner and overnight at a hotel on the ocean coast.

7. KALUTARA

Breakfast. A day to rest on the sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean or by the hotel pool or for independent exploration of the surroundings. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight.

8. KALUTARA – COLOMBO

After breakfast check-out from the hotel and departure to Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Upon arrival we will go to Pettah, the most famous bazaar. We will also visit a Hindu and a Buddhist temple. Tour of the Dutch church Wolfendhal, the Hulftsdorp Law Courts, through the residential area Cinnamon Gardens and finish at Independence Square. After the tour transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival check-in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
