Magical Vienna

Vienna enchants with a mix of imperial elegance, rich history and a festive atmosphere that turns the city into a true winter fairytale during Advent. The Austrian capital, with its orderliness, majestic palaces and cultural pulse, is impressive on its own, but in December it shines especially magically. City squares are adorned with richly decorated stalls, the streets are filled with the scent of mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and freshly baked cookies. The market in front of the town hall is considered one of the most picturesque in Europe, offering a wide selection of gifts, local delicacies and festive decorations, while the sounds of waltzes and Christmas carols provide the background.

Day 1 LJUBLJANA – VIENNA - LJUBLJANA

In the early morning hours we meet at the agreed location and depart for the Austrian capital. Upon arrival in Vienna we begin with a tour of the city's most important sights – first we take a panoramic bus drive past the magnificent opera house, the Parliament, the town hall and the museum quarter. Then follows a walking tour of the city centre – we stroll along the elegant Kärntner Straße to St. Stephen's Cathedral, one of Vienna’s most recognizable symbols. Here we allow some free time for independent exploration of the surroundings and visits to the stalls that surround the square and offer numerous festive treats and unique gifts. We continue past the imperial Hofburg Palace, once the seat of the Habsburgs, and through Michaelerplatz to the Maria Theresa Square, where we are surrounded by the architectural grandeur of museums and statues. After the sightseeing there is free time to visit the Advent markets – we can stay at one of the largest and most famous markets in front of the town hall (Rathausplatz), which greets us with richly decorated stalls, local delicacies and a magical festive atmosphere, or we can visit one of the more than twenty markets that Vienna offers. In the evening we regroup and return towards Slovenia, arriving in the late night hours. (bus)
