Overview

Budapest delights with its unique blend of magnificent architecture, historical heritage and lively street life. The city, divided by the mighty Danube, is connected by picturesque bridges, among which the Chain Bridge linking Buda and Pest stands out. On one side reigns the Castle Hill with the Fisherman's Bastion and the Royal Palace, while on the other spreads the elegant city centre with the iconic Parliament, St. Stephen's Basilica and lively city squares. During Advent Budapest comes alive in a very special atmosphere – streets are decorated with lights and the squares turn into festive markets that attract locals and visitors. The market in front of St. Stephen's Basilica is famed as one of the most beautiful in Europe. Vörösmarty Square offers a more traditional experience with the scent of mulled wine, handmade gifts and Hungarian culinary specialties. Advent in Budapest is not just a shopping experience but a true festive journey through the city's culture and history.

Day 1 LJUBLJANA – BUDAPEST - LJUBLJANA.

In the early morning hours we gather at the agreed meeting point and drive towards Budapest. On the way we stop in Celje and Maribor to pick up passengers. Upon arrival in the Hungarian capital we first visit the Fisherman's Bastion, from where we enjoy a beautiful view of the Danube, the Chain Bridge and the city panorama. Then we also see the Buda Castle, a magnificent palace that dominates the river and testifies to the city's rich history. Afterwards we descend from the castle hill on foot or by funicular (extra charge) and continue on foot to the Hungarian Parliament, one of the city's most recognizable landmarks. From the outside we also view St. Stephen's Basilica, where festive stalls with local products and cuisine await us, along with the main Christmas tree and a small ice rink. We continue to the famous Váci Street and Vörösmarty Square, where one of the city's most traditional Advent markets takes place, offering handicrafts, street food and hot drinks. Free time to explore the stalls. Those who wish can take public transport to Városliget city park, where one of the largest ice rinks in Europe is located, or independently attend the Nutcracker ballet at the beautiful Hungarian State Opera.
