ITINERARY

The group departs in the morning from an agreed departure point and travels by motorway towards Karlovac. Upon arrival in Karlovac, we will take a short break at Lana Korana Restaurant, beautifully situated overlooking the Korana River. After the break, Queen Maria Theresa herself will be waiting for you – brought to life by a costumed tourist guide and interpreter who will take you on a fascinating journey through the city and introduce you to her life and times. Our walk begins along Karlovac's Promenade, leading us to the historic milestone that shows the distance from Karlovac to Vienna. We then continue into the historic city centre of Zvijezda, Karlovac's distinctive star-shaped old town. What secrets does this historic star hold? If you want to experience Karlovac like a local, you might meet someone “kod žabe” – literally, “by the frog”, a well-known local meeting point. For a glimpse into a bygone era, we visit Katzler Pavilion, where you can sit in its charming retro corner and feel as though you have stepped back into another century. Our walk continues past some of Karlovac's most fascinating historic landmarks, including the Frankopan Manor, the former City Hall and Ban Josip Jelačić Square. Along the way, we discover the General's Headquarters, the Arsenal, the historic well, the plague column, the Church of the Holy Trinity and Franciscan Monastery, as well as the Orthodox Cathedral of St Nicholas. We then continue to the city park, home to a monument dedicated to the renowned Karlovac painter Vjekoslav Karas. Finally, we return to our starting point via the historic Radićeva Street. After our fascinating walk through Karlovac, enjoy some free time to explore the city at your own pace. Our recommendations? Try pancakes with ice cream and raspberry sauce, enjoy a Karlovačko beer, or simply relax with a coffee while taking in the view of the Korana River. In the afternoon, we begin our journey back to the original departure point.
